Would you like to discover how to transform a team into one that makes you burst with pride? In my recent video series, I have share some useful tools and strategies to help you build a powerful implementation plan, an absolute essential if you are feeling overwhelmed, firefighting on all fronts, and dealing with too many conflicting demands and pressures.

I love my work as a business effectiveness consultant and coach because I meet some fascinating characters and get the opportunity to help them build teams to be proud of. You might already know about my background and my 25+ years in professional services. In August 2005 I came back from maternity leave to a promotion and inherited an under-performing team. Like you, what I really wanted was a team recognised as a model of excellence; a team to be proud of. Well, I was able to turn it around and 11 months later, I was bursting with pride when the team was shortlisted in a supplier’s Annual Awards ceremony.

Two weeks ago, I launched a series of videos about the time that I came to realise that my unique insight and talent at identifying problems was not enough. Like many of you, I’m sure, as a business services manager in a law firm, I did not know where to start.  I realised that I needed an implementation plan. There was so much that needed attention, but where to start?

In Episode 1, I showed you the Service Delivery Wheel to decide where to focus first. In Episode 2, we looked at exploring your current situation and what is happening in your ideal 10 out of 10 scenario. Then in Episode 3, we explored establishing a clear and specific goal with a timeframe, recognising that it is not about taking you all the way to your ideal in one big step, but rather smaller steps.

In your bonus Episode 4, I explore how to pick the best options to take forward, as well as the questions you need to ask to be sure that you hold yourself accountable.

I also share my special Implementation Workshop offer with you. Normally priced at £797, the early bird price until midnight 30 September is £497. Early bird bookings qualify for three bonuses worth £567 if you bought them separately. (When you watch the video, you’ll notice that I extended the Early Bird deadline).

Find out more here.

In summary, to create a powerful implementation plan to transform your team into one you can be proud of, you need to decide first where to focus your attentions. Establish what is the current vs the ideal situation. Decide what the first step needs to be and craft this as a specific and measurable goal. Brainstorm the options, then decide which action(s) you will do first, and WHEN exactly you will take those actions. Good luck.

p.s. don’t forget to watch Episode 4 before you reserve your place on the Implementation Workshop.

I love the coaching side of my business – absolutely love it. Do you work in business services or are you support staff in a law firm? Do you share my view that support staff get the short straw when it comes to soft skills training and investment in their personal development? If you look around for a performance coach to work with a lawyer or a partner, there are lots of them. Often former lawyers. And it definitely helps to have a coach who has some personal experience and knowledge of your sector.  Look again- how many coaches can you find who specialise in working with business services or support staff. After many years working in law firms and professional services, I have had both good and bad experiences about how the “non fee-earner” staff are treated.  And I don’t think it’s always fair.

However what I have come to realise is that often managers, leaders, and HR professionals who work in law firms are unaware of just how powerful and transformational coaching can be in the workplace. I work with a few enlightened firms already. And I love this work. I get such a great buzz when I watch somebody’s performance or career take off, knowing that I have supported them to achieve more quickly and more decisively.

But what I really want to do is to bring the power of coaching to everybody. I want everybody to know how enlightening, how powerful, how liberating, how inspirational coaching can be. This is why I’m running a free (yes free) breakfast workshop in EC1 on 19 March for leaders, managers and HR professionals who work in law firms. Not only will you get a demonstration and overview of core coaching skills using the GROW model, you will also learn how you can use DISC personality profiling. Together, these performance tools can increase employee engagement, enhance communication, improve productivity and performance. Yes these tools ARE that powerful.

Come and find out more – we’ll provide a free breakfast: tea, coffee, egg & bacon roll or pastries, and tell you how you can use coaching in your law firm to improve performance. The catch? There is no catch. I am passionate about bringing the power of coaching to business services staff in law firms and this seemed like the easiest way of doing it.

Maybe you’re already using coaching in your firm? Leave me a comment and let me know how how it benefits you and your team.

For a long time now, I have wanted to run my own workshops dedicated to those IT professionals who work on the service desk.  While I was at McDermott, I ran many internal workshops but I wanted to take my knowledge and experience even further.  I am now very excited to have launched my new workshop Managing the Effective Law Firm Service Desk. This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to network with their peers while  developing their leadership talents, sharpening their communication skills, increasing their understanding of how best to implement performance management and sharing ideas on how to collaborate effectively with the business and other teams within the law firm.

For the same reasons as I launched my Law Firm Service Desk Survey, I believe that the IT service desk professional in a law firm faces unique challenges and pressures.  Therefore they deserve a unique workshop.  And I don’t know about you, but one of the most enjoyable part of any workshop offsite, is the opportunity to network and share ideas with other professionals: learn from their experiences, their innovations as well as their mistakes.   So what could be better than spending quality time developing your skills and talents with others who work in a similar environment.

The workshop is in central London (EC3) on Tuesday 14 May, within easy walking distance of Cannon Street, Liverpool Street, Bank, Fenchurch Street and Monument stations.

Sounds good? Why not take advantage of the Early Bird 15% discount if you book and pay before Thursday 14 March.  Email  srb@sherrybevan.co.uk to book your places.
